Rad “af” Color Combos

Let’s talk about color. It’s one of the most powerful tools we have in design, and honestly, it’s underrated. The right combination of colors can completely change the vibe of a project. Whether you’re designing a website, a brand, or just tweaking visuals for social media, color has the power to make people feel something. And when it’s done right? It’s magic. Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite color combos and why they work.

Why Colors Are Everything
Colors speak without words. They have the power to set a mood, tell a story, or even spark an action. Think about it—red makes you feel alert, blue feels calm and trustworthy, while yellow is all energy. When you combine these colors, it’s not just about how they look together; it’s about the feeling they create. And that’s what good design is all about—creating the right feeling.

Contrast Is Key
Sometimes the best combos come from opposites. Like black and white, for example—timeless, bold, and effortless. When you mix contrasting colors, you create movement and tension in the design that forces the viewer to pay attention. Try red and blue, or purple and yellow. It’s like a punch in the face—but in the best way possible.

Monochrome Magic
But contrast isn’t the only way to go. Monochromatic color schemes, where you use variations of a single color, are underrated. Think of shades of blue or green. It’s simple, but it works. This creates a calm, cohesive look without needing a ton of variety. It’s perfect when you want a clean, professional feel.

Complementary Colors for Balance
Then, there are complementary colors. These are the ones sitting opposite each other on the color wheel, like red and green or purple and yellow. When paired together, they balance each other out and create harmony. It’s bold but still feels put-together.

The point is: colors are more than just decoration. So if you want your design to stand out, think about how the colors you choose make people feel.
